ACDC LIGHTING: MADE IN ENGLAND

Made in England with due care and attention – ACDC Lighting made a pledge long ago that all of their products are homegrown.

Everything they do is put together at their UK headquarters, in the northern village of Barrowford in Lancashire, with the customer in mind.

The company moved into their 30,000 sq ft purpose built office and manufacturing facility in 2009 and now have nearly 60 distributors shipping to over 50 different countries.

ACDC strive for excellence to the last detail, aware that their output will be installed in tricky environments, and are independently tested to certify their performance.

Technical and design teams constantly focus on researching fresh methods, materials and technologies with materials, machinery and skilled assembly lines delivering new products.

Their surface finishes are considered as important as anything else, with specialist paint or an anodised process used so products can cope in the most rugged of circumstances.

A five-year guarantee gives the buyer even more peace of mind, when purchasing equipment that is increasingly cutting edge.

LED has represented an incredible, fast moving and game changing technology within the lighting industry, from which forward-thinking companies are developing a vast of uses.

A genuine equivalent to traditional light sources, comparable to 50 Watt Halogen and even 35 Watt Metal Halide bulbs, has now emerged.

High-quality LED sources are now delivering exceptional colour rendering, long removed from their predecessors, which were typical cool or even grey in appearance.

ACDC work with the most reputable LED manufacturers and move with the times to see their products are the most advanced and efficient in the world.

ACDC have been at the forefront of these technologies since 2001, when they were approached by Lumileds Lighting, a joint venture between Philips and Agilent.

They had an incredibly bright LED light source, which threw up architectural opportunities if a high specification solution could be perfected. It was – and they went from there.

The company has used LED lighting systems ever since and increasingly on commercial sites, that have only got bigger and more impressive down the years.

You can find ACDC systems at all sorts of places around the world such as stores, bridges, town halls, hotels, theatres, town halls, bridges, in places as far afield as Vietnam.

This is to be name but a few, with an eye-catching example of their work with a piece of real history taking place at the Troia Cathedral in Italy.

The 12th century building, in the Apulia region, is considered a jewel of Roman architecture had to be carefully maintained.

The cathedral’s facade is of great importance and the owners approached world-renowned architects, who needed innovative lighting schemes to enhance the interior space.

Low output and energy consumption was key to highlight architectural detail, along with the original structure and function.

Careful consideration was needed when lighting the carved wooden crucifix, a symbol of the town’s traditions and festivals.

ACDC and Thorn, who are both from the Zumtobel Group, had to meet criteria for ceremonies and worship where lighting had to match the mood.

A touch screen control system was pre-programmed to meet different needs or functions, with illumination at the heart of the building.

Thorn’s SATIN 2 linear projectors worked alongside the beams with QBA projectors and, in the side aisles. INTEGREX linear fittings provided arched lighting.

The works complimented one of the finest monuments in that part of Italy and it was the best of British that made it happen. That’s what ACDC are good at.
